SUMMARY:GARDENS CORNER - SHELDON CHURCH ROAD CLEANUP
DESCRIPTION:This Earth Day\, join members of the ACE Basin Task Force\, Beaufort County Open Land Trust\, Lowcountry Land Trust and Coastal Conservation League in support of Beaufort County’s Earth Day clean-up! \nGardens Corner – Sheldon Church Road Cleanup\nMonday\, April 22 from 9 to 11 a.m.\nMeet at 1236 Trask Highway in Seabrook \nWe will be picking up litter around the intersection of U.S. Highway 17 and U.S. Highway 21. There is no need to register in advance\, so just come dressed for the job. \nMake sure to wear: \n\nLight or brightly colored clothing that will make you more visible to passing traffic.\nLong pants and long-sleeved shirts.\nSturdy shoes that cover your feet to help avoid scratches\, fire ant bites and contact with poisonous plants.\n\nCleanup supplies and refreshments will be provided. \nOld Sheldon Church Road is a state scenic byway\, known across Beaufort for its tree-lined corridor and the famed Sheldon Church ruins.  Along with the Gardens Corner area\, this landscape represents Beaufort County’s entrance to the ACE Basin.  Known as one of the Nature Conservancy’s “Last great places on Earth” and home to over 250\,000 protected acres\, the ACE Basin includes wildlife management areas\, refuges\, upland habitat\, and incredible waterfront.  As conservationists\, we believe it is important to continue to protect rural landscapes and support the communities within them.  To do so\, we continue to promote policies for land protection\, support working lands\, and farms and encourage land stewardship.  One small way we can support the ACE Basin and Beaufort County is to clean up roadside litter. \nBring your friends and family members\, but remember that children must be at least 13 years old to participate. And\, all children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nCome get your hands dirty – don’t worry there will be gloves! See you there!

SUMMARY:Find your SOUL: Cooper River Paddle
DESCRIPTION:Paddling the East Branch of the Cooper River is an immersive experience\, blending together the beauty of the re-established cypress and tupelo hardwood forest with the history of the rice plantations and trunk gates now maintained for migratory birds. \nJoin SOUL Ambassador Captain Chris Crolley on this unique experience to find your soul as you paddle through one of the most pristine rivers in our area. During this 3.5 mile trip\, we will paddle through open rice fields on the East Branch of the Cooper River before we funnel into the much smaller Quinby Creek\, surrounded by bottomland hardwood forest. Raptors and alligators weave through the ancient canals hunting the many species of mammals\, fish\, and birds. \nKayaks\, PFDs\, and paddles will be provided. Guests should wear clothes that are quick-drying and shoes that will stay on your feet (such as water shoes\, sandals with straps\, or tennis shoes). Please bring plenty of drinking water and any snacks you may want along the way. \nTickets are $50 for adults and $20 for children under 12. Space is limited to 15 guests. \nTo secure your spot on this trip\, please contact our friends at Coastal Expeditions at 843-884-7684 or info@coastalexpeditions.com.  \nWe look forward to paddling with you!
