Join Isle of Palms Cleanup Crew for a special litter sweep THE NIGHT BEFORE Earth Day. A welcome session with our friends from South Carolina Aquarium starts at 5:30 pm, followed by a litter cleanup until 7 p.m. We ask each volunteer to clean for at least 30 minutes.
Sign in at the beach access in the 1100 block of Ocean Boulevard at Front Beach by Smugglers & Coconut Joe’s – NOT at IOP County Park – that’s 3 blocks away.
Our volunteers are citizen scientists who work in teams and record our data in the aquarium’s Litter Journal. Supplies provided. Everyone is welcome. We happily sign for student volunteer hours.
Enjoy a discount at an island restaurant after volunteering. Pick up a magnet for free parking in the city lots off Pavilion Drive if you plan to return.
Watch our Facebook page for possible weather cancellation. If there’s thunder, lightning or other safety risks, stay off the beach.
This event is part of a series of spring litter sweeps on March 10 & 24, April 7 & 21, May 5 & 19.
During summer, we hold weekly litter sweeps from 6-7 pm Mondays and 7-8 am Wednesdays.
