SUMMARY:Feed your SOUL: Cooking Cane Syrup
DESCRIPTION:Join SOUL Ambassador Jimmy Hagood at his family’s sugar cane harvest in the ACE Basin to see how over 2\,000 cane stalks get cooked down to 8 gallons of syrup. It’s worth all the effort –  the result is a perfectly sweet\, beautiful amber syrup – the same syrup enjoyed for generations prior to granulated sugar’s ready availability. Be part of the negotiation and taste one of the sweetest bounties that comes from the lowcountry. \nGuests are invited to come out to Lavington Plantation when the cooking begins at 10:00 am and stay until the last drops of cane syrup are bottled in the mid-afternoon. A country lunch will be served at 2:30 pm. Feel free to stay all day\, or just come for lunch.
