Old Sheldon Church Road is a state scenic byway, known across Beaufort for its tree-lined corridor and the famed Sheldon Church ruins. Along with the Gardens Corner area, this landscape represents Beaufort County’s entrance to the ACE Basin. Known as one of the Nature Conservancy’s “Last great places on Earth” and home to over 250,000 protected acres, the ACE Basin includes wildlife management areas, refuges, upland habitat, and incredible waterfront. As conservationists, we believe it is important to continue to protect rural landscapes and support the communities within them. To do so, we continue to promote policies for land protection, support working lands, and farms and encourage land stewardship. One small way we can support the ACE Basin and Beaufort County is to clean up roadside litter.
Bring your friends and family members, but remember that children must be at least 13 years old to participate. And, all children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
