Picnic in YOUR Backyard

You’re invited to our first ever Picnic in YOUR Backyard! 

(No need to put out the welcome mat, we promise not to join you.)

For 33 years, Lowcountry Land Trust has hosted an Annual Spring Picnic, where supporters gathered on a protected property to celebrate conservation milestones and the beauty that is the Lowcountry in the Spring. This year, we would be celebrating the work completed in 2019, where Lowcountry Land Trust protected seven properties in four counties, totaling 3,402 acres of protected land. This brings our total protected acreage up to more than 147,000 acres of protected land in the state! We would also be recognizing the landowners who worked with the Land Trust to make these protections possible.

The 2020 Annual Spring Picnic was planned for Saturday, May 2 at Sheldon Farms on Wadmalaw Island. Since we are unable to picnic together this year, we need your help to make our first Picnic in your Backyard a success. Children and pets are welcome and this event is rain or shine! 

To take part in this virtual gathering, we ask that, anytime throughout the month of May, you pack a spread and take it outside. Pick any day, any time, to gather with your loved ones for a picnic in your backyard. If you do not have a backyard, no problem! Picnic outside, on your balcony, on your front porch, on a patch of green. The goal is to get outside and enjoy Spring in the Lowcountry. Make it a virtual Derby Party picnic and wear your finest hats. Or celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Mexican fare. Perhaps make a fabulous picnic spread for the mom in your life. We can’t wait to see all of your ideas.

Throughout the month of May, if you share a photo on social media and tag @LowcountryLandTrust and #LLTPicnic, you will be entered to win tickets to the 2021 Spring Picnic. If you don’t have social media, don’t worry! You can still participate. Send us your photos at events@lowcountrylandtrust.org or text them to 843-608-9369.
