Lowcountry Land Trust has named David Ray, Managing Director of Conservation, a critical position to the success of the Lowcountry conservation goals. The quality of life enjoyed by Lowcountry residents is defined by the relationship between people and the land, and the way of life made possible by that delicate balance. “We are thrilled to have David Ray join our team,” commented Ashley Demosthenes, President & CEO of Lowcountry Land Trust. “His exceptional leadership and professional experience in non-profit land conservation will be a great benefit for the organization and community.”
This new hire comes at a critical time for not only the organization but for the Lowcountry, as the need for conserving land is essential for the rapidly growing region. The Trust has worked with numerous landowners to conserve more than 142,000 acres across the coastal plain of South Carolina, much of which is within Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester region and neighboring world-class landscapes such as the ACE Basin.
Ray comes to the Land Trust with over 22 years of professional experience in conservation, environmental law, real estate and land use matters and more than 15 years of non-profit land conservation. He has devoted the majority of his career to conservation in the Southeast and most recently in Colorado.
