MULTIPLE WAYS TO MAKE AN IMPACT
Do you want to connect to conservation through outdoor volunteer opportunities?
About: From oyster reef builds alongside the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) to kayak clean-ups with Keep Charleston Beautiful (KCB) and litter sweeps at the Angel Oak Preserve, volunteering is a great way to get your hands dirty within the community. Lowcountry Land Trust hosts numerous volunteer events with community partners every year to connect locals to important causes centered around conservation. Whether you recently moved or grew up here, volunteering is a great way to feed, find, and fuel your soul.
Impact: Lowcountry Land Trust convenes conservation-minded locals and community partners. By collaborating, we have a more significant impact.
Time commitment: Volunteers can dedicate as much or little time as they’d like. Outdoor opportunities are published on Lowcountry Land Trust’s event calendar and open to the public, though space is limited, and registration is required.
Is this for you? If you enjoy spending time outdoors, volunteering within the community, meeting new people, and learning about the Lowcountry, then our outdoor volunteer opportunities are for you!
Do you want to experience the excitement of a Lowcountry Land Trust event while visiting a property protected via conservation easement?
About: Becoming a volunteer at events is a great way to explore and encounter the wonders of our two annual fundraisers, the Spring Gathering and Sporting Clays Shoot. Event support volunteers assist with every aspect of events, from the silent auction and kid zone at the Spring Gathering to station leads along the course at the Sporting Clays Shoot.
- Our Annual Spring Gathering is a family-friendly event held on a different protected property every year. It features live music, locally grown BBQ, property tours, a silent auction, and activities for the whole family.
- The Annual Sporting Clays Shoot is held each fall at Brosnan Forest, a protected property in Dorchester County. This three-day event continues to grow and attracts over 300 sportsmen, women, and outdoor enthusiasts. You don’t have to be an experienced shooter to enjoy the 14,000 acres of Brosnan Forest.
Impact: If you’re interested in meeting supporters of Lowcountry Land Trust or exploring new properties, volunteer at one of our events, and you’ll get to do both! Volunteering at various events and outreach opportunities is a great way to emphasize our work with multiple audiences.
Time Commitment: We host two significant fundraising events and several smaller events throughout the year. Volunteers can attend as many or as few as they like.
Is this for you? Do you love socializing, seeing new properties, and meeting new people? No experience is needed, and all training and supplies will be provided ahead of the event so that each volunteer feels comfortable with the task at hand.

Do you want to get your team outdoors with a volunteer workday?
About: Reconnect to the Lowcountry and your team with Corporate and Group Volunteer Outings. Workdays are based on the needs of the protected property but have involved removing invasive plants, litter sweeps, and trail maintenance. If you have a group of friends, students, a local business, or a club that is interested in an alternative workday, connect with Lowcountry Land Trust, and we can coordinate a service project to fit your schedule and interests.
Impact: Lowcountry Land Trust holds conservation easements on over 160,000 acres across 17 coastal counties. Upkeeping these protected properties is essential to our work and made possible by volunteer workdays.
Time Commitment: Due to the limited availability of our staff, we encourage one volunteer workday per group each year.
Is this for you? Do you want to get your team outdoors with a volunteer workday? Do you like getting your hands dirty? If you are interested in sweating and working as a team, then Group Volunteer Workdays are for you.
If you want to get your group involved in a workday, fill out the Request Form here.
