Volunteers are the Soul of the Lowcountry

As the Lowcountry Land Trust team reflects on 2024, we are blown away by our volunteers’ impact on our conservation efforts. Our community outreach program is named Soul of the Lowcountry because without the partnership of our community, we couldn’t sustain the region’s iconic landscapes, waterways, and culture.

Thanks to volunteer commitment, we’ve advanced our mission, built community, and worked together to preserve the Lowcountry we all love. The following highlights are a snapshot of the volunteer impact made in 2024!

Over 130 volunteers joined us in 2024, contributing to a wide range of events and outreach initiatives.

We welcomed 95 new volunteers into our community. Each new volunteer brings fresh energy and enthusiasm to our efforts.

We hosted 13 volunteer events. To name a few – the annual Sporting Clays Shoot and Spring Gathering, Oyster Wire Reef Builds with SCDNR, creek and highway cleanups – the list goes on, as does our volunteer support.

Our volunteers’ invested time and dedication resulting in over 3,000 hours of volunteer service in the Lowcountry.

As we look ahead to 2025, we are energized to connect even more Lowcountry residents to our region’s landscapes, waterways, and time-honored activities. As proven by 2024’s volunteer impact, a connected community is a powerful community. We are so grateful to each volunteer who donated their time, energy, and enthusiasm to the Lowcountry Land Trust mission this year!
