Lowcountry Land Trust Staff Additions & Updates

Lowcountry Land Trust’s work is driven by passionate employees who know that protecting our region’s landscapes and waterways cannot wait. With over 163,000 acres protected, staff matches the Lowcountry’s rapidly accelerating pace of development with unwavering dedication.

In addition to the announcement of the Land Trust’s next President & CEO, Matt Williams, we’re thrilled to share additions to our team and updates to existing staff whose roles have evolved in tandem with the organization’s growth. From Stewardship to Land Protection to Advancement to Operations, each department comprises essential employees who work together to further Lowcountry Land Trust’s mission.

Jack Alexander, GIS & Conservation Planning Manager

Jack joins the Lowcountry Land Trust team this month as the GIS & Conservation Planning Manager, a pivotal role in documenting and reporting on land protected in perpetuity by the organization. Jack will be managing all of the GIS (Geographic Information System) data across various databases and will be responsible for creating maps for prospective easements, legal documents, conservation value analysis, planning initiatives, and events. He graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Biology, and his 4+ years of GIS experience include diverse applications ranging from wildlife research to urban planning. Jack brings valuable education, experience, and passion for conservation to the Lowcountry Land Trust team.

Emelyn Talento, Land Trust Alliance Fellow – Community Lands Associate

Emelyn recently joined the Lowcountry Land Trust team for a year-long fellowship through the Land Trust Alliance’s 2025 Scholars for Conservation Leadership Program. This competitive fellowship is designed to expand students’ opportunities to pursue careers in conservation, emphasizing an equitable and community-centered approach to conservation. Emelyn graduated from CUNY Hunter College in Spring 2024 with a degree in Environmental Studies, and she is excited to gain on-the-job experience in conservation by assisting Sam Seawell, Community Lands Director, by working to keep community lands in community hands.

Meghan Lord, Donor Relations Coordinator

Meghan was Lowcountry Land Trust’s Communications & Outreach Intern in 2024, and we are thrilled to welcome her back in a full-time role as Donor Relations Coordinator. Meghan’s double major in Psychology and Environmental & Sustainability Studies from the College of Charleston, combined with her exemplary work during her internship, makes her an excellent fit for the organization’s Advancement team. Meghan’s work will provide insightful information about our generous donors, ensuring staff can effectively support Lowcountry Land Trust’s mission.

Camden Praed, Bookkeeper

Camden recently joined Lowcountry Land Trust’s team as a part-time Bookkeeper. Assisting Controller Winky Zeberlein, her work helps ensure organizational and financial efficiency so Lowcountry Land Trust’s mission can be furthered. In addition to her work, Camden is a full-time College of Charleston student and is highly involved with the accounting honors fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi.

Hunter Allen, Land Protection Project Manager

Hunter has served as Lowcountry Land Trust’s Stewardship Associate for four years, nurturing relationships with landowners and ensuring that the conservation values of protected properties were upheld. Now, Hunter’s role has shifted to Land Protection Project Manager, building on his acquired experience of executing several new conservation projects during his time at the Land Trust. While his role will include projects across SC’s coastal counties, the most immediate emphasis will be on northern coastal counties such as Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester, and Georgetown.

Bea Girndt, Corporate & Major Gifts Director

Bea has served as Lowcountry Land Trust’s Outreach & Events Director for three years, planning and executing cultivation events while implementing the corporate sponsorship program that helps fuel our land protection and stewardship work. Thanks to the overwhelming success of her initiatives, Bea’s role has shifted to Corporate & Major Gifts Director, which enables her to focus on building relationships with the generous donors who invest in furthering Lowcountry Land Trust’s mission.

Alyssa Godwin, Communications Coordinator

Alyssa joined Lowcountry Land Trust in September 2024 as a part-time Communications Coordinator, assisting with sharing the organization’s conservation wins and engagement opportunities. In January 2025, her role shifted to full-time, allowing her to take on grant writing responsibilities in addition to her existing duties. This change allows the Advancement team to inspire other conservationists by sharing success stories in a timely manner, while also sourcing and securing funding to further the protection of the landscapes and waterways we know and love.
