Lowcountry Land Trust is proud to introduce our 2025 summer interns! These four college students are working alongside staff to gain valuable experience while advancing the organization’s mission. With a varied range of majors and interests, we look forward to their accomplishments this summer.
Hallie Cole, Community Engagement (Angel Oak Preserve) Intern
University of South Carolina | Double Major in International Business and Marketing; Sustainability Concentration
Hallie is working alongside Samantha Siegel, Angel Oak Preserve Director, to provide community outreach, program building, and research support to the Angel Oak Preserve initiative. Hallie is interested in pursuing nonprofit work as part of her post-graduation plans. She is excited to combine her passion for environmental conservation with a hands-on exploration into nonprofits, experiencing how Lowcountry Land Trust approaches relationship building, research, and data analysis to advance the organization’s work. Having lived in Spain and France, Hallie says the magical flora and fauna of the SC Lowcountry are still her favorite things.
Claire Vaughan, Land Trust Operations Intern
Sewanee: The University of the South | Environmental Sustainability Major, Politics Minor
Claire is working alongside Victorica Bock, Communications Director, to support the various departments at Lowcountry Land Trust and to ensure operation efficiency. Having heard about Lowcountry Land Trust’s conservation efforts as she grew up in Charleston, Claire is excited to experience the operational functions and learn how they advance the organization as a whole. Her assistance with a database refresh will ensure that each department has the most current information about the generous landowners and donors that fuel our mission. Claire has always wanted to become involved in conservation, and finds inspiration in the plentiful egrets that enjoy our Lowcountry ecosystems.
Radhika Pandey, Community Engagement (Center for Conservation) Intern
College of Charleston | Double Major in Environmental and Sustainability Studies and Sociology
Radhika is working alongside Jennifer Welch, Outreach & Events Manager, to provide community outreach, program building, and research support to the Center for Conservation initiative. She appreciates how connected Lowcountry Land Trust is to the community and is excited to experience how a nonprofit approaches relationship-building to advance the organization’s work. Much like the community and conservation are interconnected, Radhika loves how the Lowcountry’s beach, marshland, and forest ecosystems are all connected and form the landscapes and waterways we’re working to protect.
Anne Young, Land Conservation Intern
University of Virginia Echols | Interdisciplinary Major: Applied Statistics for Resilient Cities
Anne is working alongside Krista Schmidt, Stewardship Associate, to provide administrative support to the land protection team and assist in fulfilling land stewardship obligations of Lowcountry Land Trust’s conservation easements. Anne’s favorite part of the Lowcountry is the varied and unique landscapes, and she is excited to spend time outdoors on beautiful protected properties and experience a glimpse into the work of landscape protection and stewardship. She spends much time in the marsh with her Boykin spaniel, Circe, and looks forward to helping protect it for future generations.
